Six diagrams. Each one is the sefer thinking in shape rather than sentence.
Seven Encircled by the Eighth
The Eighth Was Hidden in the First
This allows us to sharpen the relationship with the Alter Rebbe.
If סוף מעשה במחשבה תחילה, then the final Messianic disclosure must somehow be concealed in the original Chabad revelation.
Not because the Alter Rebbe necessarily described every historical form through which it would emerge.
But because the essential orientation is already present.
Divine unity.
Dirah betachtonim.
Or Yashar, Or Chozer
Eight Is Or Chozer
The recipient receives.
But genuine reception changes what was given.
Or chozer rises.
The light returns from below.
In Kabbalah this return possesses a remarkable capacity. The lowest may generate a returning light that reaches the highest.
Here is the paradox of Malchus.
The Octave
The Octave: The First Note Returns Without Becoming the Same Note
Music gives us a language unusually suited to eight.
The seven notes form an ordered scale.
The eighth returns to the first.
And yet nobody who hears an octave thinks the eighth note is simply a pointless repetition.
It is the same name at another height.
Do returns as Do.
Alef and Zayin
The Secret Contained in אז
There is a tiny word that contains an entire cosmology.
אז.
Alef.
Zayin.
One and seven.
Eight.
Crown and Head
The Crown and the Head
A crown sits above the head.
Yet the crown is meaningless without the head that bears it.
The head directs the body.
Yet the crowned head receives a context greater than its own internal intelligence.
This is a profound image for seven and eight.
Seven is the articulated order.
The Generations
Moshiach as the Eighth Generation From the Alter Rebbe
Now we can formulate the phrase fully.
Moshiach as the Eighth Generation from the Alter Rebbe means:
The first generation introduces a form of Divine consciousness intended to penetrate the faculties of the soul.
The generations that follow broaden, deepen, embody, preserve and disseminate it.
The seventh explicitly defines its mission as bringing the Ikar Shechinah into the lowest world and completing the historical work necessary for Geulah.
The eighth quality is the Messianic disclosure in which the lowest world itself begins revealing the unity planted into it.
